Hello, this is M, the concept-cafe writer!
This may be sudden, but aren't there quite a few men out there who think you can't eat your fill at a maid cafe? Indeed, given the nature of maid cafes, the standard items inevitably tend to be parfaits, pancakes, omurice, and the like, and you may think that variety of food is something you just have to give up on at a maid cafe...
But to you who think that way! Yes, you there!! For you, there's HONEYHONEY! The ultimate "Eat! Drink! Maid Cafe!" that covers every kind of menu item, from maid-cafe standards to izakaya dishes! That's HONEYHONEY!!
I jumped straight to the conclusion there. This shop has locations in Ikebukuro, Nakano, Omiya, and Akihabara. This time I went to the Akihabara location.
The day I went was a Saturday, so it was a bit crowded (but the shop is spacious and I had no trouble getting a seat). On weekdays, according to a maid, there are apparently many people who really use it just as a cafe. The table seats even have power outlets. Thankfully, you can use them to charge your smartphone.
And here's the menu that has you wondering! And this is still only a fraction! Plus it's cheap! Their official website introduces it too, but the menu seems to differ by location (even the maids don't seem to know the details). In any case, the Akihabara location's menu was exceptionally extensive.
When they told me to take my time choosing (if you tell me that, I can't decide), I agonized over it endlessly, and... "Today's daily special is the Negi Chashu Don (pork and green onion rice bowl)!" they said. "This is a fated encounter," I declared like in Solitary Gourmet, and ordered the Negi Chashu Don.
And here's what came out! It's not just my imagination that it looks big; it really is big. And the taste was pretty good too. At places like this, taste tends to take a back seat, but it was properly done and I was glad.
